Villagarcia de la Torre

Villagarcia de la Torre is located some 31km to the east of Zafra on the Cordoba road.

In years past the pretty village of Villagarcia de la Torre was a more important conurbation, partly for shielding alleged witches from the Order of Santiago in Llerena. Nowadys its status is as a small village close to the larger town of Llerena.

It's a quiet place, in part because the main road passes around rather than through, with a castle that's seen better days watching over it. It's been suggested that the damage to the castle was a result of target practice by Napoleon's army.
