Almendral

Almendral is a pretty little village of approximately 1,500 people surrounded by attractive countryside.

The 50km to Zafra take about 30 minutes by car and the A66 just the other side gives easy access to Seville in about another hour and a quarter from Zafra.

However the border city of Badajoz is just 35km to the north of Almendral, with Portugal just a few minutes drive from Badajoz. Almendral contains all the necessary shops and services for daily life, but Badajoz and Zafra ensure that large shops are not far away.

There is an airport at Badajoz, though it's primarily for internal use, though there have been suggestions that may change in future. Currently the daily flights to Seville from the UK are probably the best option, though Lisbon is a possibility at about 3 hours from Almendral.
