La Parra
La Parra is a deceptive town nearby to Feria, which hides its light under a bushel to some extent.
Driving to La Morera from Feria or Zafra, it would be easy to pass by without giving a thought as you pass the edge of the village made up of modern and rather anoymous houses. However leave the main road and enter into the village and you discover a village full of charm typical of this area.
The population is about 1,400 people and, in common with Salvatierra de los Barros, artesan pottery is a significant part of the village's make up.
The old convent has been converted into a 21 room hotel and restaurant which has built a reputation beyond the area for fine Extremaduran cuisine in tranquil and sympathetic surroundings.
However if tranquility isn't your thing, the skies over La Parra often contain paragliders who take advantage of the area being relatively flat with a few conveniently placed hills for launching from.
